Technological Innovation in your Bathroom

Technological Innovation in your Bathroom

Technology is evolving in our homes at a rapid rate – from smart TV to wireless sound systems allowing our favorite music to be streamed as we move from room to room.
When we’re planning our new room designs, clever technology innovations often add the icing on the cake.

The bathroom, where we bathe away the stresses of the day, is also witnessing technology innovation.

1. Singing in the shower.

There’s nothing nicer than a good ol’ sing song in the shower, the sound of the shower drowning out your less than perfect high notes is really the only way to truly start the day.

Now you can perfect your backing track as the actual songs streams into the bathroom. Kohler’s Moxie is not just a shower-head – it’s a Bluetooth wireless speaker. Now you can turn the music up – and belt out your favorite anthems without worrying that anyone else can hear your less than dulcet warbling.
It does play up to 7 hours of music – but we’re not sure it’s a good idea to stay singing in the shower that long!
2. A weighty issue.
No-one really likes bathroom scales. On a Monday, they can remind you of the weekend excesses, on a Tuesday they can be the nagging prompt of the healthy week you promised yourself.

We believe if you are going to torture yourself with scales in the bathroom, they should be the best technological innovation money can buy.
The Fitbit Aria Wi-Fi Smart Scales look quite beautiful and don’t just measure your weight, they also track your BMI and body fat percentage making sure that you have an all round tracking system – and you can access your data from your smartphone.

3. Light it up.

Imagine lying in the bath and being able to control the lights and ambiance all from a touch of your smart phone. Well you can.
The Philips Hue is a lighting system where you can create your personalized lighting ambiance. It allows you to connect up to 50 Hue light bulbs to a single system – and uses less energy than traditional bulbs. You can alter the tone, the contrast the white light and even add a spectrum of color to create the perfect bathing ambiance.

4. Mirror, mirror on the wall.

Often the first thing we do in the morning is check the news, connect with our social communities and see what is going on in the world.

Imagine if you can catch up on the day whilst brushing your teeth. Well the day may not be far away when you can. Toshiba has designed a smart mirror where at the touch of ‘the mirror’, the reflective screen can provide news and information to start your day including the weather and even connect to your personal fitness app.
5. The heat is on.
There’s nothing worse than stepping in your morning shower – and scalding yourself before you have even woken up properly.

Today’s shower technology means you can set the temperature before you even step inside the shower – sometimes with a remote control – and the shower system is that clever it ensures that the water never gets too hot. A shower system that knows how hot you like your water.

With this Raindance shower, you can switch between spray modes, adjust the hot water limitation and start the day in rinsing rapture.
